ICE was created by the combination the law enforcement arms of the former Immigration and Naturalization Service (INS) and the former U.S. Customs Service (ICE) and identifies criminal activities and eliminates vulnerabilities that pose a threat to U.S. borders, as well as enforcing economic, transportation, and infrastructure security.
